Regenerate NPT
Regenerate Neath Port Talbot is the local partnership that is delivering the Rural Development Plan in Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council. The RDP is jointly funded by the European Union as part of the Common Agricultural Policy through the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development, and the Welsh Government. It has run since 2007.
The term given to the 'partnership' is 'Local Action Group' and it is made up of members from the public, private and voluntary sectors. In Neath Port Talbot the LAG - Regenerate NPT, is responsible for overseeing our local LEADER programme. The LAG is made up of 25 representatives from a wide range of organisations throughout rural areas within NPT and is required to submit a Local Development Strategy to the Welsh Government which outlines their priorities for development, outcomes and targets for the life of the plan.
Responsibilities
Regenerate NPT is responsible for the overall governance and strategic direction of the Regional Development Plan 2014-2020 in Neath Port Talbot, developing and delivering the Local Development Strategy for this period. Its main responsibilities are:
To ensure that the Administrative and Delivery bodies and their representatives function within the legal and regulatory framework set out by the Welsh Government.
To formulate a Local Development Strategy for 2014-2020 addressing the appropriate needs and opportunities in the area with regards to four specific themes:
To develop and oversee the delivery of projects under the Local Development Strategy.
To ensure that the LDS strategically fits with local and national priorities and maximises use of other external funding sources.
To be an advocate for the LAG and its work. To be an advocate for the Leader approach to regeneration.
Supporting the promotion of issues relating to Welsh Government Rural Communities - Rural Development Plan 2014 - 2020 is the Wales Rural Network Support Unit.
